Coupons lets your clinic create and manage promotional codes for pet families.

Create a code, define exactly where it applies, set the rules, and let smollOS handle the validation when the coupon is used.

Coupon rules are validated by smollOS, rather than by the payment processor.

Coupons at a glance

The Coupons screen gives your team a quick view of all promotional codes.

You can search and filter coupons and see their current status, usage, and basic performance.

Each coupon can be:

• Active

• Deactivated

• Expired

You can also duplicate or delete coupons when needed.

Create a coupon

Select New Coupon to create a promotion.

Each coupon includes:

• Internal name — used by the clinic to identify the promotion

• Coupon code — the code entered by the pet family

• Discount type

• Discount amount

• Minimum order

• Start date

• Expiry date

• Maximum redemptions

• Applicable products or services

Choose the discount

Coupons can offer either a percentage discount or a fixed amount.

Percentage

Apply a percentage discount to the eligible purchase.

For example:

SMOLL20
20% off

Fixed amount

Apply a fixed monetary discount.

For example:

WELCOME50
$50 off

Set the rules

Coupons can be configured with rules that control when and how they can be used.

Minimum order

Set a minimum purchase amount before the coupon can be applied.

For example:

Minimum order: $200

The coupon will only be valid when the eligible purchase meets that threshold.

Start & expiry

Set when the coupon becomes active and when it expires.

This allows clinics to run limited-time promotions without manually switching them on and off.

Maximum redemptions

Set how many times a coupon can be redeemed.

You can also limit how many times the same pet parent can use a coupon.

This gives the clinic control over both overall usage and individual usage.

Choose what the coupon applies to

Not every promotion should apply to everything a clinic sells.

Coupons can be limited to specific types of products or services.

For example:

20% off services

The coupon could apply to consultations, grooming, or other eligible services while excluding medications and other products.

This lets clinics create more targeted promotions instead of applying a discount across the entire transaction.

Coupon validation

When a coupon is entered, smollOS checks its rules before applying the discount.

It verifies things such as:

• Whether the coupon exists

• Whether it is active

• Whether it is within its valid dates

• Whether the minimum order has been met

• Whether the redemption limit has been reached

• Whether the coupon applies to the selected items

• Whether the pet parent has already reached their usage limit

If the conditions are met, the discount is applied.

If not, the coupon is rejected.

Manage coupons

From the coupon detail screen, the clinic can:

• Edit a coupon

• Deactivate a coupon

• Delete a coupon

• Duplicate a coupon

• Copy the coupon code

Duplicating a coupon is useful when you want to create a new promotion based on an existing one without rebuilding all the rules.

Recent redemptions

The Coupons screen also includes recent redemption activity.

The clinic can see basic information about how its promotions are being used, including:

• Recent redemptions

• Successful redemptions

• Coupon usage

• Total savings given to pet families

This gives the clinic a quick sense of which promotions are actually being used without turning Coupons into a full marketing analytics platform.
